چکیده
Erratum After publication of the original article [1] it came to our attention that the legends for figures 2 and 3 had been interchanged. The correct legend for figure two is 'Pedicle screw fusion model' and the correct legend for figure three is 'Cortical bone trajectory model'. biomechanical comparison between cortical bone trajectory fixation and pedicle screw fixation. permits unrestricted use, distribution, and reproduction in any medium, provided you give appropriate credit to the original author(s) and the source, provide a link to the Creative Commons license, and indicate if changes were made. The Cortical Bone Trajectory: An Alternative to Traditional Pedicle Screw Fixation - A Review
The cortical based trajectory for pedicle screw fixation of the lumbar spine is not a novel as it once was. This is a review of the background, indications, advantages, disadvantages of cortical based trajectory pedicle screw fixation with an emphasis on biomechanical evidence and recent clinical studies which only now are just coming to light.
متن کاملBiomechanical Comparison Between Bashti Bone Plug Technique and Biodegradable Screw for Fixation of Grafts in Ligament surgery
Background: Ligament reconstruction is a common procedure in orthopedic surgery. Although several popular techniques are currently in use, new methods are proposed for secure fixation of the tendon graft into the bone tunnel. Purposes: We sought to introduce our new technique of Bashti bone plug for fixation of soft tissue graft in anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction and to compar...
متن کاملA biomechanical comparison between cortical bone trajectory fixation and pedicle screw fixation
PURPOSE There have been several reports on the pullout strength of cortical bone trajectory (CBT) screws, but only one study has reviewed the stability of functional spine units using the CBT method. The purpose of this study was to compare vertebral stability after CBT fixation with that after pedicle screw (PS) fixation. METHODS In this study, 20 lumbar spine (L5-6) specimens were assigned ...
متن کاملCortical bone trajectory for lumbar pedicle screws.
BACKGROUND CONTEXT Achieving solid implant fixation to osteoporotic bone presents a clinical challenge. New techniques and devices are being designed to increase screw-bone purchase of pedicle screws in the lumbar spine via a novel cortical bone trajectory that may improve holding screw strength and minimize loosening. Preliminary clinical evidence suggests that this new trajectory provides scr...
متن کاملMinimally Invasive Lumbar Pedicle Screw Fixation Using Cortical Bone Trajectory – A Prospective Cohort Study on Postoperative Pain Outcomes
OBJECTIVE Our study aims to evaluate the clinical outcomes of cortical screws in regards to postoperative pain. BACKGROUND Pedicle screw fixation is the current mainstay technique for posterior spinal fusion. Over the past decade, a new technique called cortical screw fixation has been developed, which allows for medialized screw placement through stronger cortical bone. There have been sever...
